Shooting at Howe Park Wounds 4 People Shot in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade

Sacramento County Sheriff's Office investigators are investigating a shooting that took place on April 18 2026 at the Howe Community Park area at the moment authorities were dispersing an unauthorized event of several hundred people.

Background

Officers from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office initially got calls about the park at about half past six in the evening after being notified of persons possibly Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 in possession of concealed weapons. Following that, another report was received regarding an alleged brawl breaking out inside the park.

Air support searched from above but could not confirm any ongoing fight. Regardless, authorities discovered that a crowd of several hundred had packed into the park in an unauthorized manner.

How the Shooting Unfolded

Law enforcement personnel set about removing people from the park by surrounding the park and using their vehicle PA systems directing the crowd to leave immediately. About 15 minutes were given for the gathering to break up.

As the crowd was being cleared that an estimated 20 to 25 shots were fired. The rapid succession of shots caused mass panic. Responding personnel at once began finding those who had been shot.

Four Victims Hospitalized

When the dust settled, four individuals were discovered with shooting injuries. Those injured — including a female and three males each reported to be in their twenties — were taken to hospitals in the Sacramento area. Doctors and nurses noted that two were treated for serious injuries, one of the four had moderate gunshot wounds, and one sustained minor gunshot wounds. As of last report, all four victims survived and were stable.

Metro Fire Sacramento were called to the scene and provided medical assistance the four victims at the scene.

Evidence at the Scene

The primary shooting scene seemed to have occurred on the Cottage Way side of the park close to the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. Crime scene investigators discovered extra shell casings on the Cottage Way roadway. Round impacts were discovered in the iron perimeter fence surrounding the Home Depot store. This ballistic evidence suggested that at least one of the shooters had been firing southward from Cottage Way in the direction of the Home Depot building and parking lot. The nearby Home Depot was placed on lockdown during the incident. Crime scene personnel kept processing evidence well into the night.

Suspects Detained

Intelligence received over scanner radio traffic showed that a Kia connected to the shooting had been detained in an area within Solano County. Four individuals were detained. Sacramento law enforcement were dispatched to Solano County to return them to Sacramento for further questioning. Video reviewed at the scene established that the shooting involved two separate gunmen.
